Ebook About “Hart has a genuine gift for conveying the texture of midcentury Manhattan…. [She makes] the dilemmas of her own young life both compelling and contemporary.”—USA Today “[A] glorious once upon a time fairytale come true….I loved every moment!” —Adriana Trigiani, author of Very Valentine A memoir acclaimed as “reminiscent of The Best of Everything and Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (BookPage), Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart is the true story of two best friends experiencing the time of their lives in New York City during the summer of 1945. The Cleveland Plain Dealer raves, “Hart writes about that stylish summer with verve, recollecting with a touching purity a magical summer in Manhattan, seen through the eyes of two 21-year-olds, just as the end of World War II approached.”Book Summer at Tiffany Review :
I was only a baby when the girls in Summer at Tiffany lived their best summer. However I grew up in New Jersey, and started going to New York City regularly as a child with ny parents, then with friends in high school and finally to school at Katharine Gibbs and a career working in the City. Never, ever, did I meet anyone as incredibly naive and silly as the author and her friends. I am surprised they even survived that summer. I, too, worked when people were called Miss Smith, and wore hats and gloves in the City, but neither I nor anyone I know ever quivered in fear of authority or shrieked all the time there was good news. Author very fond of word shriek as it appears all the time. Who goes around shrieking???? Very disappointing book, as I love Manhattan and Tiffany' s, where I spent many happy lunch hours. Was hoping for intelligent insight into that 1945 summer. Did not get it. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a lighthearted and funny look at the past. It was also interesting to see the prices of things in the past. It was an easy and quick read. I rated it 5 stars, because I enjoyed read it.
